The Town has budgeted $50,000 this year to start obtaining the necessary permits to dredge four of our six canals beginning in 2022. Permits must first be secured from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Broward County Environmental Protection & Growth Management Department. This process will take about a year to complete and requires that all the data submitted be less than one year old. The environmental data from a Town Canal Dredging Study was completed in summer 2020. By moving forward with the necessary permitting work in FY2021, the Town can save money and be able to begin Phase 1 for this Capital Improvement Project in 2022.
