If you want to run for office, you must file candidate forms during the one-week filing period. These forms will soon be available at Town Hall.
The filing period starts Jan. 3 at noon and ends at noon on Jan. 10. If you miss the deadline, your name will not appear on the ballot.
The candidate forms includes a document appointing a campaign treasurer and a statement of candidacy. You must then open a campaign bank account.
In order to run for office in the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, you must be a Town resident for at least the past 6 months.
The available seats are:
Mayor – At Large.
North – District 1, Seat 1 (Sokolow)
South – District 2, Seat 2 (Strauss)
Candidate qualifying packets will be available soon and can be picked up at Town Hall.
Mayor Vincent is seeking his third (and final) 2-year term as Mayor.
Commissioner Elliot Sokolow is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to his current seat.
Commission Randy Strauss is running for his second 4-year term in District 2.
Candidates running for the seat now held by Commissioner Sokolow must reside in District 1.
Candidates running for the seat now held by Commissioner Strauss must reside in District 2.
Candidates for Mayor can reside in either district. Regardless of where voters live, they can vote in all three Town Commission races.
The polls open on March 8 at 7AM and close at 7PM.
