Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Events
The Town offers monthly (sometimes twice monthly) FREE drop-off opportunities for its residents to dispose of virtually any form of household hazardous waste (HHW). This is made possible through the Town’s participation in a cooperative agreement with eight other Broward County municipalities. Due to the lack of adequate facilities for hosting these events, none of them are held in the Town. The sites are ONLY OPEN on the dates listed.
The drop-off events are in the following cities: Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Pompano Beach, Tamarac, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Parkland and North Lauderdale.
HHW generally includes products with toxic ingredients or components which require special disposal to prevent pollution to waterways, groundwater, air and soil, as well as to prevent poisoning or otherwise endangering humans, pets or wildlife. Many of the products we use for cleaning, painting and gluing, and automotive, pool and lawn maintenance fall into this category, as do medications and electronic components.
Household hazardous waste does not include industrial waste, construction debris, or appliances which must be disposed according to specialized regulations and are not accepted at drop-off events. Appliances can placed curbside for the Town’s monthly bulk pickup.
Remember, it is dangerous and illegal to place any oil wastes, dangerous substances or hazardous material in your trash cart.
Time & Location
The Drop‐Off events are held on the first Saturday of the month, at alternating locations, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Town residents must show proof of residency at the event, such as a Driver’s License, state-issued identification card, auto registration or utility bill. Below this list of dates and cities are the specific locations within that city.
