BROWARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE
The law enforcement
personnel who work for the the Broward Sheriff's Office are responsible
for enforcing all Town and state laws in
the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
Capt. Thomas Palmer, who assumed command as the district chief in October 2016, has more than two decades of progressive law enforcement experience. Prior to his promotion to captain, he was the executive officer in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea for three years. Palmer oversees a professional staff of almost 30 law enforcement employees,
including 19 sworn police deputies, three sergeants and an executive lieutenant.
headquarters is in the Town's Public Safety Complex at 4513 Ocean Drive (just north of Jarvis Hall). The Town operated its own Police Department until March 2001, when it contracted with BSO
to provide hometown police services. The Town renewed its contract with BSO in 2011.
The Broward Sheriff's Office
takes pride in serving the Town with integrity, as well as its close working
relationships with residents, the business community and Town Hall.
