To
operate a business in the Town of
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, you must first obtain a
Business Tax Receipt, formerly called an
occupational license. The Town licenses all persons,
professions, trades, shops and occupations doing
business in the Town, including persons who may
operate businesses out of their homes. This includes
all rental property owners and owners renting
docks.
Businesses operated in residential homes must comply
with Home Occupation Regulations in the Town’s Code.
The following requirements apply:

Home offices must be
secondary to the use of the dwelling for
residential purposes.

Only the owner or
occupant may operate a home office.

There shall be no
display of goods or machinery.

No traffic shall be
generated in greater volume than normally
expected in a residential neighborhood.

All pick-ups and
deliveries to the home office shall be done from
vehicle that can park in the driveway and shall
be limited to no more than three per day.

A home office may
not exceed 20 percent of the living area of the
dwelling.
The
cost to obtain a Business Tax receipt is $50.
When you are finished completing the form, it must
be mailed or delivered to Town Hall at 4501 Ocean
Drive, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL 33308. Staff will
contact you to set up an appointment for an
inspection of your business.
