Commissioner Birute Ann Clottey has lived in Bel Air since 1989, and her family has lived there since the mid-1970s. Her daughter, Aldona, a mechanical engineer with an MBA, is married and lives in Seattle. Birute Ann, a full professor of Marketing, holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration, an MBA and a BA in Business Administration. She has taught at Barry University in Barry University in Miami Shores for 19 years as well as at Western Carolina University, Oklahoma State University and DeVry University.
She has lectured in Mexico, Jamaica and several European universities. At Barry she was elected by her peers to the Faculty Senate and served for 12 years, including two as chair. She has served on the board and as Chair of the Gold Coast Chapter of the American Marketing Association, VP of Marketing for Dynatech, Inc., and the Advisory Board for the Faculty of Administration for Kaunas University of Technology.
Additionally Dr. Clottey has authored several books, published in journals and presented at numerous regional, national, and international conferences. She has owned her own business and is active in consulting and civic affairs including serving on the Board of the Bel Air Civic Association and Rotary. Under the auspices of the Small Business Administration, she has conducted workshops and developed business plans for local small business owners.
As Commissioner, Birute has co-chaired the 2009 July 4th festivities and the 2009 Easter-By-The-Sea event. She serves on the boards of Broward MPO and Broward League of Cities.
